Sony Action Cam vs GoPro: Which Is Better?

The ever-growing popularity of action cameras has stirred a new debate in this community, leading many to ask: Sony Action Cam vs GoPro, which one is better? Both of them are celebrated names and among the most recognized brands in the world.

Sony and GoPro both have some top-rated and top-selling action cameras to their names, which sparked the debate in the first place. Thus, in this article, we will settle the matter once and for all and determine which brand takes the lead. Before we do that, though, let us take a brief look at the history of these companies.

About GoPro

GoPro is a US-based technology firm that was established by Nick Woodman in 2002. The company is famous for producing high-quality action cameras. The CEO designed the first-ever action camera with the aim of shooting himself while surfing.

The firm has grown tremendously since then. That’s the reason why GoPro is considered to be one of the best action camera manufacturers worldwide. Today, it is used by adventurers and sports people all over the globe, including the casual users.

GoPro is basically a tiny camera that carries almost all the positive traits of a point-and-shoot cam and camcorder. However, unlike any of the two, a GoPro camera is compact, water-resistant, durable, and pretty much unbreakable.

A GoPro cam usually contains an image sensor, a wide-angle lens, a processor, and a maximum of three microphones. These cams feature cleaner interfaces with only two to three buttons. The advanced versions also offer touchscreen functionality for giving you better control. In addition to cameras, the company also make their own video editing software.

  1. Not to be funny but exactly how biast can one be. The sony boast twice the battery life and you say it needs to up its game. I own both sony and go pro the sony came after the gopro.
Gopro might be small but you beed an over priced adapter to add a mic. It has the most combersom mounting systrm that leads to multiple joins to keep the camera facing the right way. The thing heats up like a gas furnace. Image stibilazation is digital not optical great for crap image quality if there is any vibration.
The short of it all its not perfect by any means and the sony i prefer the shape yes you miss out on the screen but we all have mobile phones these days that have bigger displays but ill admit it can be missed especialy taking photos but not like the gopro screen is that usable at is size so i ended up using my phone anyway.
Accesories the gopro has the edge but jo blog wont be getting them anyway. Under water you set the sony in the menu no extra filters to buy and lose. Hold it by hand the sony shape cones to play, mount it o. The side of your helmet the sony shape reighns supreme yet again. Chest and shoulder mount the GoPro has an up on the sony but exactly how many people do you see doing this? Want to mount it on a windscreen in your car the poor passanger view is blocked by the monstrosity 3 times the size of the sony. Handle bar mount similar problem so many joins its a pain and it tends yo point in the wrong durection do add another join to point it where you want.
Im not saying the sony is perfect it just seems to work a touch easier. Hard buttons vs the touch screen with gloves on i say no more.

Most important thing 8mp vs 12 mp effective the best of the two is the one the battery is not flat on and can be used. 2s vs 5s startup you may just have missed that critical bit.

  2. I think that both go pro and sony cameras are good but go pro cameras are better for action and sony more still photos.go pro I say are better because they are basically unbreakable and they are good for any sort of photos or videos.
